Charity Trap Shoot Winners Take Home $8,000 in Prizes

Holy Rosary Healthcare Foundation's Third Annual Sportsmen's Charity Classic Trap Shoot & Annie Oakley Shoot-Out was held Friday and Saturday, August 10-11, at the Custer Rod & Gun Club in Miles City. Men, women, and youth shooters from across Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Colorado competed in the trap competition and individual shoot-outs. Over $8,000 in individual and team prizes were won by participants.

Pacific Steel & Recycling Trap Competition Top Teams


Five-person teams competed in three rounds of trap competition at the event. Team winners included:

  • First place (score 313): Scott Ziebarth, Jeremy Kueffler, Stanley Scott of Miles City; Garrett Bryan of Baker; and Greg Koczur of Colstrip.
  • Second place (310): Miles City's Keith Hall, Clyde Leischner, Jeremy Kueffler; Baker's Ed Susa; and Spencer Dalke from Shepherd.
  • Third place (300): Levi Burch, Terry Sgrignoli, Fred Tetschner from Miles City; Keenan Celander and Steve Bryan of Baker.
  • Fourth place (300): Miles City's Quade Jessen, John Sgrignoli, Daniel Tailleur; Colstrip's Greg Koczur; and Baker's Nicole Kono.

  • Youth (under 18)
    • Top youth shooter (scoring 68 of 75): Hunter Brazelton, Billings
    • 2nd place, youth (55): Shelby Sleaford, Shepherd
    • 3rd place, youth (52): Garrett Bryan, Baker
  • Women
    • Top women's shooter (scoring 62 of 75): Nicole Kono, Baker (also women's top shooter in 2011)
    • 2nd place, women (60): Cheri Reed, Kinsey
    • 3rd place (53): Nancy Okerman, Miles City
  • Men
    • Top adult men's shooter (scoring 72 of 75): Greg Kuczur, Colstrip (also men's top shooter in 2011)
    • 2nd place, mens (72): Glen Franklin, Colstrip
    • 3rd place (71): Jeremy Kueffler, Miles City

Colstrip's Greg Kuczur was named the top shooter of the event. Kuczur earned perfect scores in two rounds of the individual and team competition, was the top men's shooter, shot on the first place team, and won the HRH Foundation Annie Oakley Finale.

One of the event's features included three highly competitive Annie Oakley Shoot-Out which is a game of elimination involving quick thinking and sharp shooting.

    • Top Shooter: Greg Kuczur, Colstrip
    • 2nd place: Glen Franklin, Colstrip
    • 3rd place: Nicole Kono, Baker

All proceeds from the event benefitted surgical and trauma services in our community and region. Plans are already underway for the August 9-10, 2013 event with a plan to add a competitive archery shoot.
